The YWCA-GCR Community Meal is served every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m.- 7:00pm. YWCA-GCR residents as well as members of the community are welcome to join us each week for a free nutrition cooked meal. Meals are prepared by a variety of volunteers including but not limited to YWCA-GCR staff, residents, community members and students. Residents are encouraged to participate in preparation of the meals and will be assisted by staff in menu planning, shopping and time management. We serve between 75 - 125 people per week. The YWCA-GCR also partners with community organizations to set up booths at weekly Community Meal to advertise, promote, and engage guests in services.
Residents and community members can call the YWCA-GCR at (518) 274-7100 to find out Thursday's menu. For more information on volunteering to cook or serve, please contact Bonnie Benson at (518) 274-7100 or by email email@example.com.
My Sister's Closet provides free gently worn professional and casual clothing for YWCA-GCR residents and women in the community. Everyone is welcome to visit My Sister's Closet and no referral is needed. We also provide some infant and children’s clothing. We are currently accepting donations of both business casual and professional clothing for women and children. If possible, but not required: we prefer that professional clothing be on hangers. Click here to read our full donation policies and procedures.
To schedule an appointment, or to make a donation, please contact Jackie Weaver, Housing and Supportive Services Administrator, at (518) 274-7100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The SCRC is open during regular business hours and some evening hours, to our residents as well as members of the community, including men. There are 4 computers that may be utilized for everything from goals orientated to recreational such as job and apartment searching to sending and receiving e-mail, checking Facebook as means of staying in contact with family and friends. There is a lounge area where residents may sit with visitors. There is also a variety of local resources that are displayed on the bulletin board, in our cardholder and in files as well. We strive to be able to provide connection to any resources in the community that a resident or guest would need. Volunteer to "host" the SCRC to assist users with questions, signing in and out and keeping the area clean and quiet.

The 2017 Resourceful Woman of the Year is Anne Saile, Interim Director of The Hyde Collection and Founder & President of The Saile Group. Open year-round, The Hyde presents changing exhibitions in its five gallery spaces, as well as lectures, concerts, family activities, education programs, and school and group tours.

Saile served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Bellevue Woman’s Hospital for nearly a decade, leading the once financially distressed hospital into financial success. During her tenure at Bellevue, Saile became one of the most widely recognized representatives for the healthcare needs of women and newborns. In this capacity, Saile and Bellevue received numerous awards. She has also been recognized by governors, the NYS legislature, and garnered national and international recognition for innovation and commitment to high quality and accessible women’s healthcare.
Saile is a philanthropist who has raised millions of dollars for organizations and causes. She has extensive board experience, including as a founding member of the Forum for Executive Women of the Capital Region, the American Heart Association, the Center for Women in Government and Civil Society, The Center For Economic Growth, and the Healthcare Advisory Board in Washington D.C. She is the founding chair of the Women@Work Advisory Board for the Hearst Corporation and served as a chair for the Women's Presidents Organization Albany Chapter for over six years.
The Resourceful Women’s Awards were established in 2000, to recognize and honor those whose community and professional pursuits advance the empowerment of women, a core value of YWCA of the Greater Capital Region’s mission. In addition to honoring Anne Saile, the Awards luncheon will recognize the 2017 Woman of Inspiration, Resourceful Award honorees and Community Partners.
